Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Examination 2021 –Civil Service Post

Educational Qualification

A Degree of Bachelor in any Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Number of Attempts

Candidates can attempt only 6 times. OBC who are otherwise eligible shall be 9. Provided further that a person with benchmark disability will get as many attempts as are available to other candidates who do not belong to the person with benchmark disability of his or her community, subject to the condition that a person with benchmark disability belonging to the General and EWS Category shall be eligible for 9 attempts.

Age Limit &Age Relaxation: (As on 01.08.2021)

Minimum Age Limit: 21 years

Maximum Age Limit: 32 years

Not earlier than 02.08.1989 and not later than 01.08.2000

Age relaxation for maximum age limit is given below

  • SC/ST – 5 years
  • Ex-Servicemen including Commissioned officer – 5 years
  • OBC – 3 years
  • Defence Services personnel disabled in operations  – 3 years
  • ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered for at least 5 years in Military Service as on (01.08.2021) – 5 years
  • PwBD – 10 years

Examination fee: Rs.100/-

Fee Exempted Candidates (i.e No Fee)

  • SC/ST candidates
  • PwBD candidates
  • Women candidates of all category

Mode of Payment of Examination Fee

Candidates can use any one of the following modes to pay the examination fee.

  • Pay-in-slip at nearby SBI (Candidate can pay by cash only on the next working day of generation of Pay-in-slip. “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23.59 hours of 23.03.2021 i.e. one day before the closing date)
  • Net Banking facility of SBI
  • Credit Card
  • Debit Card

Step 3: Details of various examinations, their details and the link for online application for each exam will be displayed.

Step 4: Click on the “Click here for Part – I” against the “Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (for Civil Services and Indian Forest Service Examinations)”.

Step 5: A page showing the “Important Instruction to fill Online Application Form” will open. Click on “Yes” at the end of the page, after reading the instruction.

Step 6: Part – I Registration form will open. Fill in the form with the following details Personal details, Educational details and Communication details. Then click on “Continue” to enter details of the photo identity card and examination. Then click on “Continue” to go to Part – II registration.

Step 7: Part – II registration consists of Payment of Examination Fee, Photo sign & Photo Identity card upload, and Centre Selection & Agreeing to Declaration.

Step 8: After clicking on “I Agree” on the declaration page, a Registration number will be poped on the screen. Save this registration number.

Step 9: Take a printout of the application form for future reference.

List of Scanned Copy of Documents Needed for Applying

  • Passport size color photo in JPEG format of size between 20 kb to 300 kb. The resolution must be between 350 x 350 pixels to 1000 x 1000 pixels.
  • Signature (black ink) in JPEG format of size between 20 kb to 300 kb. The resolution must be between 350 x 350 pixels to 1000 x 1000 pixels.
  • Photo Identity Card in PDF format of size between 20 kb to 300 kb. Accepted photo identity cards are Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, PAN card, Passport, Voter ID and photo ID issued by the central/state government.
